The President of the Republic, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, congratulated the winners of the 2025 baccalaureate on Thursday, hailing the results as ‘remarkable’ and paying tribute to the teachers, families and national commitment to inclusive education.

In a video address broadcast at the graduation ceremony, held under his patronage, the Head of State expressed his pride in the achievements of Djibouti’s students: 236 with first-class honors, more than 2,500 with honors and two candidates with an average of more than 19 out of 20.
‘This year’s results were remarkable (…), a demonstration of the potential and excellence of our young people’, declared Mr Guelleh, calling on the new baccalaureate holders to ‘dream big’ and pursue their studies ‘with passion’, while keeping in mind their duty to contribute to the development of the nation.

President Guelleh also paid tribute to the ‘silent artisans’ of this success, in reference to teachers, reaffirming his commitment to improving their training, working conditions and social recognition.
One of the highlights of this session was the graduation of nearly a dozen students with special needs. Seven of them, including six blind or visually impaired students and one with autism spectrum disorder, obtained their baccalaureate, which the President described as a victory for his government’s inclusive school policy.

‘Their success illustrates the success of our inclusive school policy and the proof that every child has the right to a chance’, he said, emphasising the equitable and universal nature of the right to education in the Republic of Djibouti.
Finally, addressing the families, President Ismail Omar Guelleh thanked the parents for their constant support. ‘Dear parents, thank you for your commitment’, he declared, before urging the graduates to cultivate ambition, perseverance and a sense of responsibility.

The baccalaureate, the key to higher education, remains a central milestone in Djibouti’s educational agenda, where the authorities are seeking to combine academic excellence and equal opportunities in a context of modernization of the school system.
